Manic Monday #33

It's always nice to come back after a 3 day weekend to comments like "You look like you got some sun".  It makes up for all the times I come back from a vacation to people asking, "Did you leave your apartment at all?"

I am a total pen snob and refuse to use the pens the company supplies us with, so I go out and I buy my own. My pen of choice right now is a TUL Retractable Gel Pen. It is amazing. I have never loved a pen as much as I love these (Note: TUL - Feel free to send me free ones.) But a tip for anyone who runs out to Office Max and picks some up - Don't forget to remove the small plastic nub from the tip. You will save yourself the frustration of trying to figure out why your new pen doesn't work and the feeling of stupidity when you realize why...

I don't care that every book club in America has read the book.  I don't care that it is an insanely popular movie. I don't care that it is making everyone want to travel the world. I will not read Eat. Pray. Love.  To me, it's the 42 year old housewife equivalent of Twilight

As I sit here and write this, I can't tell if that is a car alarm going off, a bird, or an alien invasion....

You know what I like about my job?  That no one is trying to kill me on a daily basis while I do it.  That's the number one reason I turned down that spy job with the CIA.  That and I shoot like a girl. (I blame a lack of video games while growing up. But I am oddly accurate with a bow. That I blame on Girl Scout camp.)

Tomorrow is my boss' birthday and I am bringing in Dark Chocolate Truffle Cupcakes. Yes, I am going to earn some major brownie cupcake points.

I won't lie. I haven't read Eat, Pray, Love either and have no desire to do so. I haven't read Twilight either. I did give in to peer pressure (among book bloggers) and read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and also read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played With Fire, both by Stieg Larsson, for the same reason. For those, I'm glad I did, but I WILL NEVER read Eat, Pray, Love or Twilight (blech).

A bunch of us at work are either reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" or about to start reading it. (I am in the latter category - I need to steal it from my moms house when she isn't looking).

I read EPL before it was a 'thing' with merch and Julia Roberts and Mr. 'Have No Desire To Do So' in comment #2 BROUGHT IT HOME FOR ME from the library. So he can just stop with the literary superiority right now.
Anyhoodles, PENS.
If you like that one, you'll have to try a Zebra Sarasa. They come in a fantastic multipack at Staples that includes gorgeous shades of blue, forest green, and maroon, plus traditional blue and black and a couple of colors suitable for underlining. Smooth ball, click pen type, rubberized barrel but not too chunky.

I love pens. :)

Oh god. Now there is a domestic dispute on the comments section over a book.

If you two don't back down I'll be forced to bring in Oprah to mediate.

Don't try me, I"LL DO IT!

I will TOTALLY boycott a movie, book, video game or ANYTHING just because someone says how fabulous it is and starts with the whole cultural icon.
I don't care how great it may be, I am not going to be a follower.
I did watch twilight to see what all the fuss was about and was like "ok... uhm... STILL don't get it. Thanks. Leave me the eff alone"

I'm a total pen snob, too! I love my Classic Bic Stick in black ink. Oh, and I said the same thing about "Eat, Love, Pray." And guess what? I broke down and bought it and I LOVE it...and I'm only 31 (and not a housewife), but I will NOT see the movie b/c I can't stand Julia Roberts.

Papermate click pens > than any gel pen. I am left handed so gel pens are equivalent to the devil.
